Breastfeeding support in Alicante

Consultations available entirely in English, in person in Alicante and online. Whether you'd like to prepare before birth or you're facing a difficulty with breastfeeding that's already begun, I'll help you find a solution that works for your family.

Preparing for breastfeeding during pregnancy

Preparing before birth means you can approach the first days with clear information and practical expectations. We cover:

  • The first hours after birth.
  • Your milk coming in.
  • Breastfeeding positions.
  • Latching.
  • How to recognise an effective feed.
  • What to expect in the first days.
  • Expressing milk.
  • Common difficulties.
  • Breastfeeding, combination or formula feeding, without judgement.

Support after breastfeeding has begun

If breastfeeding isn't going the way you expected, we look together at what's happening to find a solution that fits your situation:

  • Pain while feeding.
  • Cracked nipples.
  • Latching difficulties.
  • Long or ineffective feeds.
  • A sleepy baby during feeds.
  • Concerns about milk supply.
  • Low supply or a feeling of not having enough milk.
  • Engorgement.
  • Expressing and storing breast milk.
  • Combination feeding.
  • Returning to work.
  • Weaning.

Personalised support for your family

Every breastfeeding journey is different. Some families need a single consultation to answer a specific question; others prefer ongoing support over several weeks. You'll have time to explain what's happening, I'll observe a feed if needed, and we'll agree a clear, realistic plan together.

How the consultation works

Initial assessment

We talk through your situation, symptoms and habits.

Observation

I observe the latch and positioning when it's useful to do so.

Recommendations

You receive clear guidance, tailored to you and your baby.

Follow-up

If needed, we arrange follow-up to adjust the plan.

Referral, if necessary

If your situation goes beyond breastfeeding support, I'll point you towards the right professional (paediatrics, midwifery, medicine, physiotherapy...).

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about breastfeeding support

When should I ask for help?

As soon as you feel pain, have doubts about the latch, worry about your baby's weight, feel you don't have enough milk, notice engorgement or cracked nipples, or simply want to confirm that everything is going well. You don't need to wait until the problem gets worse.

Can I prepare for breastfeeding before birth?

Yes, and it's often especially helpful in the third trimester, so you can approach the first days with clear expectations.

Can the consultation take place online?

Yes. Many difficulties can be assessed by video call. Depending on the situation, an in-person consultation may be recommended.

Can you help with pain or cracked nipples?

Yes. We look at the latch, positioning and how the feed unfolds to understand what's causing the discomfort.

Do you support combination feeding?

Yes. Support is adapted to each family's needs and choices, whether breastfeeding is exclusive, combined with formula, or fully formula-based.

Can you help me prepare to return to work?

Yes. We plan expressing, storing milk and adapting feeds to your new schedule.

Do you support weaning?

Yes, we can plan a gradual, respectful weaning process adapted to your baby's age and your situation.

Can everything be discussed in English?

Yes. Consultations can take place entirely in English, from the first contact through to recommendations and follow-up.
